Oklahoma State football head coachMike Gundymay not be a "big portal guy," but the Cowboys have shown an urgency to be active in recruiting the transfer portal with seven additions already for the 2023 season.Oklahoma State will lose close t0 30 players from this year's roster, many of which were key contributors on offense, defense and even special teams. Almost a dozen of those departures left to enter the portal. But, itis a give and take concept thatcould be used as an advantage if managed properly.

This year a new transfer portal window was implemented, limiting when players could enter. He redshirted as a freshman in 2021, seeing action in just three games. He caught four passes for 56 yards.

Former Cal Poly head coach Beau Baldwin, who resigned at the beginning of December described Cuevas as"really athletic, a big physical kid, has length at 6-4 and 245 and played on both sides of the ball which you really like to see because that shows also somewhat of a mentality playing a lot of snaps and playing tired. Also, some of the physicality he has shown on defense really excites us. He shows great strength and toughness as a ball carrier and pass catcher, a tight end with athletic ability to do something after the catch. He has a very nice catch radius, and is not just a receiver playing tight end, but shows physicality in the run game as well and gives you something as an inline guy."

As a junior in high school, Cuevas caught55 passes for 700 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense and notched 62 tackles, including 10tackles for loss and four sacks, along with four interceptions and a pair of pass breakups.
